एक भारतीय ग्रॉसरी कंपनी को लेकर विवाद की वजह से दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी ई-कॉमर्स कंपनी अमेज़न और भारत की सबसे बड़ी कंपनी रिलायंस आमने-सामने आ गए हैं. ये दोनों ही कंपनियाँ मुश्किल में पड़ गई हैं क्योंकि दोनों ने एक ही भारतीय रिटेल कंपनी फ्यूचर ग्रुप के साथ अलग-अलग सौदे किए हैं. विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि अमेज़न के साथ रिलायंस की इस क़ानूनी लड़ाई पर आने वाले सालों में भारत में ई-कॉमर्स का भविष्य निर्भर करता है. फॉरेस्टर कंसल्टेंसी के एक सीनियर फ्यूचर एनालिस्ट सतीश मीणा बीबीसी से बातचीत में कहते हैं, "मैं समझता हूँ कि यह एक बड़ी बात है. अमेज़न को किसी भी बाज़ार में इस तरह के प्रतिद्वंद्वी का सामना नहीं करना पड़ा है." अमेज़न ने अपने संस्थापक मालिक जेफ बेज़ोस को दुनिया का सबसे अमीर आदमी बनाया है. (हालांकि अब वो सबसे अमीर आदमी नहीं हैं, मुकेश अंबानी ने उन्हें पीछे छोड़ दिया है) अमेज़न ने वैश्विक पैमाने पर रिटेल के धंधे को बदल कर रख दिया है. लेकिन रिलायंस के मालिक मुकेश अंबानी भी भारत के सबसे अमीर आदमी हैं और उनका इतिहास भी इतनी आसानी से हार मानने वाला नहीं रहा है.
